Titans WR Taywan Taylor striving to be ‘best I can be’

There is lots of promise to be found within the ranks of this Tennessee Titans wide receiver corps.
Much is due to free-agent signee Adam Humphries along with quick second-round rookie A.J. Brown. Corey Davis is still vying to live up to the expectations of his fifth-overall selection in 2017 and Tajae Sharpe is a steady if not overlooked starting existence returning to the fold.
But remember about Taywan Taylor, who to acquire chances and maintain his improvement going into Year 3.

“I need to keep getting better to be the best I could be,” Taylor stated via team reporter Jim Wyatt.
A period that is fairly ho-hum was had by Taylor at 2018 at first glance. But if you compare it to his rookie campaign, it’s abundantly evident that if given more chance, Taylor rewarded the Titans with much more generation.
In 2017, the third-round select out of Western Kentucky was targeted 28 occasions in 16 games and produced 16 receptions for 231 yards. Those figures doubled tallying 37 catches for 466 yards receiving on 56 aims in 13 games.
Steadfast on continuing his ascent, Taylor has the perfect mindset.
“Coach [Mike] Vrabel and [receivers trainer ] Rob Moore highlight: There is no point in being out here if you’re just going through the motions,” Taylor said. “Everybody’s days are numbered in the NFL, and we are all thankful to be out here. I don’t need to be complacent.”
Complacency hardly appears to be a problem for the wideout, that has got praise from his coaching staff that could lead to more chances.
“I believe Tay has done a solid job for us,” Moore said. “Honestly, I just think we will need to give him greater chances. Give him more opportunities to showcase what he could do and I think he will take advantage of his opportunities.”
Taylor’s 466 yards receiving were second-best on the run-heavy Titans and his 37 catches for third (second among receivers). He has clearly become a commodity in the Tennessee roster, but that will be undoubtedly tested by the additions of Brown and Humphries.
Furtherance of the game is the goal.
“Every day I’m critiquing myself, and coach says you’ve got to be the best critic of yourself as possible – that’s where it starts,” Taylor stated. “Every day is an opportunity to get much better. You wish to key in on what you have to get because we can get better at something.
“For myself, I would like to get better at everything.”
